How to design
print on bubble
envelopes?

Some practical tips for a printed envelope.

The issue with print on shipping packaging is that in the early stages of an e-commerce business, it is not the most important thing. However, as your business grows, the print becomes the element that sets us apart from beginner businesses.

When everything goes as planned, you’d like to shout your company’s name and cover every street corner with your logo. Otherwise, when you haven’t delivered on your promise, customers may associate your logo with slight displeasure.

The overprint is a message:
Hello, this package is from us!

Overprinting on envelopes is one of those elements that communicates to the recipient that you are not treating this transaction as a one-off. The whole process: ordering, payment, packaging, shipping, and delivery is a huge effort. The best reward for a retailer is a returning customer.
The branding or the logo on the TAP bubble envelope tells the customer where to come back, who is responsible for this perfect service, delivery, packaging and product.

You know – even Batman has his own logo.

There are four ways to approach printing on bubble envelopes. Let’s imagine a fictional brand. It would be a company selling electronics called “TECHGEAR”.

1. Classic version

The classic envelope print is the company logo, website address and registered office address. This is a simple but effective way to present the most important information about the company. The envelope could look like this:

2. Slogan or industry version

The next step is to add a slogan or information about the industry in which the company operates. This lets the customer know immediately what to expect. For example: Company logo, website address, below the slogan: “TECHNLOGY YOU CAN TRUST”.

3. Slogan and promotional campaign version

You can go a step further and use the imprint to promote current marketing campaigns. Example: Logo, website address, advertising text: “With the code TECH10 you will receive a 10% discount on your next purchases”, and below that the slogan “TECHNLOGY YOU CAN TRUST”.

4. Classic version with additional elements

Adding elements such as a QR code on the envelope, which leads, for example, to a video about recycling, shows that the company cares not only about sales but also about the environment. They not only improve the appearance but also add functionality, encouraging customers to interact with the brand. This makes the customer feel more engaged and emotionally connected to the brand, which increases loyalty.

What should be considered when planning an envelope design?

  • Address label: Make sure that its position does not interfere with the printing.
  • Closure flap: Make sure it does not cover the print.
  • Position of the overprint: Consider whether the overprint will look better horizontally or vertically and whether you will place it on the front or back of the envelope.
  • Paper colour: Choose the colour – white or brown – that best suits you and your project.
  • The packing and unpacking process.
